Endowed Giving Opportunities
Excellence in education is a rare distinction for an institution of higher learning and is the sustaining attribute of Mississippi University for Women. MUW remains committed to its tradition of excellence for women and men seeking the benefits of a college education. Since MUW’s founding in 1884, excellence is a virtue that has been instilled in generations of its students, past and present.
The MUW Foundation works to support the legacy left by MUW’s founders and nurture that legacy for the future. This requires endowed funds that provide perpetual funding to support MUW’s students, faculty, programs, and facilities.
While annual giving helps meet the University’s immediate needs, endowed funds provide benefits forever. While the corpus of an endowed fund remains invested as part of the MUW Foundation’s overall endowment, only a portion of an endowed fund’s annual earnings are spent each year. All earnings in excess of the earnings actually spent remain with the corpus of the fund to allow the corpus to grow over time.
